WHY WE ARE FUNNY: THE HISTORY OF LIVERPOOL COMEDY
A group of 20 of our Stand Out graduates worked for 6 months to research the history of comedy in Liverpool and to find out what gave the city a unique sense of humour.
They interviewed comedians such as John Bishop and Alexei Sayle, researched the history of comedy clubs The Wookie Hollow and The Shakespeare, and asked the public why they thought Liverpool was an intrinsically funny place.
All their research was presented via the new performance skills they learned on the project – script writing, sketch performance, improvisation and stand up. This culminated in a touring exhibition of a Liverpool Comedy Timeline, a World Premiere of their sketches at Woolton Picture House, and a huge performance at World Museum Liverpool as part of the 2013 Liverpool Comedy Festival.
