Laugh it Off (Young People)

Laugh it Off – Funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund

Humour is the oxygen of our city.

This project explores the historical role of humour in Liverpool’s resilience. Plus what that means for supporting well-being today.

A 3 year project, working with young people across the Liverpool City Region. Laugh It Off preserves and celebrates the rich heritage of comedy in our city.

This pioneering project supports the preservation of comedy artifacts, performances, and cultural traditions for future generations to enjoy.

Lead by young people, the ‘Laugh It Off’ Club tours schools, youth centres and other youth-focussed institutions. Delivering workshops covering everything from curating and performing your own stand-up comedy routines. Plus creation of a touring exhibition and resilience toolkit. This will be made available to schools, researchers, and the general public.

Thanks to National Lottery Heritage Fund for supporting this project.

“I found working with The Comedy Trust collaborative. Listening to the needs of our school. And working from a place that best supported the diversity of our student body. The staff who worked with the students built great relationships. These enabled students to engage in risk-taking to build self esteem and develop humour as strategy for managing mental health. These students shared the experience with their friends and performed a brief concert at the end of the project.”
